Today, I would like to talk about being a surgeon, a job that was traditionally considered more suitable for men.

In the past, many people believed that women weren't "strong enough" to stand for many hours in the operating room, or that they might be too emotional for such high-pressure work. Because of these outdated stereotypes, surgery was often seen as a male-dominated field.

However, to be a great surgeon, the most important qualities are precision, deep medical knowledge, and mental toughness. These skills are not determined by gender

Precision: Both men and women can have the "steady hands" needed for delicate operations.

Stamina: With proper training, anyone can build the physical endurance required for long surgeries.

Today, we see many talented female surgeons performing complex life-saving operations every day. This proves that professionalism and expertise are what matter most, not whether the doctor is a man or a woman.

In my opinion, the main reason for this trend is the deep-rooted preference for sons in Vietnamese culture, as many families believe they need a son to carry on the family lineage. Additionally, modern medical technology allows for gender selection, which worsens the situation. I think this is a serious issue because it leads to a gender imbalance, making it difficult for men to find partners in the future and causing social instability. We should promote gender equality to solve this problem."
