In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have started celebrating festivals like Christmas and Halloween. Some people believe this is a sign of modernization and cultural exchange, while others fear that it may negatively affect traditional Vietnamese culture. Personally, I think celebrating these foreign festivals is not a problem if people maintain a balance between global and local traditions.
Firstly, participating in Christmas or Halloween gives young people opportunities to relax, have fun, and express creativity. These festivals also help them learn about other cultures and strengthen global understanding. In addition, they bring economic benefits, as businesses sell decorations, costumes, and gifts during these occasions.
However, it is essential that Vietnamese youth do not ignore their own festivals, such as Tet or the Mid-Autumn Festival. These events reflect our national identity, family love, and community spirit—values that should always be preserved.
In conclusion, celebrating foreign festivals can make life more colorful and connected with the world, but young people should still respect and promote Vietnamese traditions to maintain a strong cultural identity.
