Floods are the most common natural disaster in Vietnam, especially occurring during the annual rainy season. When the rains persist, rivers overflow their banks, inundating thousands of hectares of farmland, homes, and destroying local infrastructure. Many people are forced to flee to safety, losing their belongings and even facing the risk of losing loved ones. To mitigate damages, the government and charitable organizations have implemented various strategies such as building dikes, afforesting protective forests, and raising community awareness on disaster preparedness. While natural disasters cannot be entirely prevented, these measures help to more effectively protect the lives and property of the Vietnamese people.
