In modern society, foreign festivals such as Christmas and Halloween are becoming increasingly popular among young Vietnamese. While some people are worried that these celebrations may affect our traditional culture, I believe they bring more advantages than disadvantages.
To begin with, celebrating international festivals is a good way to promote cultural diversity. Young people can experience new traditions, learn about their history, and compare them with Vietnamese customs. This not only improves cultural awareness but also helps them respect differences in a multicultural world.
Moreover, these occasions create a joyful atmosphere for communities. Shopping malls, schools, and streets are decorated beautifully, which attracts people to join in. Families and friends often gather to enjoy food, games, and music. Such activities bring people closer together and make life more colorful.
On the other hand, it is true that foreign festivals might distract young people from appreciating local traditions. However, I think the key is balance. As long as we continue to celebrate Tet and other Vietnamese festivals with pride, foreign events will only add variety, not replace our identity.
In conclusion, Christmas, Halloween, and similar celebrations provide cultural enrichment and social enjoyment. Vietnamese youth should embrace them while also protecting their own heritage.
