Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating Mickey Mouse and founding The Walt Disney Company, one of the best-known entertainment companies in history.
Childhood and education
He was born on December 5th, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. When he was young, he showed a great interest in drawing and painting. He attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he studied art and photography.
Achievements
He was a very successful film-maker, who created the beloved character Mickey Mouse in 1928. He won 22 Academy Awards and was nominated 59 times — more than anyone else in history. Apart from making films, he was also famous for building Disneyland in California, which became the first theme park of its kind and inspired many others around the world.
Family
He had four brothers and one sister. He married Lillian Bounds, and they had two daughters.
Death and the continued success of The Walt Disney Studios
He died in 1966, but his legacy lives on. The Walt Disney Studios continues to produce films and bring joy to millions of people worldwide.
