Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating Mickey Mouse and building a magical world of cartoons and theme parks. He is remembered as one of the most creative and influential film-makers of the twentieth century.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in a large family with four brothers and one sister. From a young age, he loved drawing and storytelling. He later attended McKinley High School in Chicago and took evening courses at the Art Institute of Chicago to develop his artistic skills.
Disney became a very successful film-maker. He created the first synchronized sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie (1928), which introduced Mickey Mouse. Later, he produced Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the first full-length animated feature film. Apart from making films, he was also famous for building Disneyland, the first-ever theme park of its kind.
He married Lillian Bounds, and together they had two daughters.
Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, but his legacy continues. Today, The Walt Disney Studios and Disney theme parks remain symbols of imagination, joy, and creativity for people of all ages.
