In 1960, The proportion of rural areas makes up 85%. However, from 1960 to 1980, the figure slightly decreased by 4%. From 1990 to 2020 witnessed a dramatically fall was recorded in the percent of ruarl citizens from 80% to 63%.

By contrast, the urban population rose steadily throughout the period. In 1960, the proportion of urban population stand to rose at 15%. In 1980, the figure increased from 15% to 19%. From 1990 to 2020, the percentage of urban citizens rose significantly from 20% to 37%.
