The line Graph illustrates the population trends in Viet Nam, from 1960 to 2020.
Overall, it is evidence that Vietnamese people mostly lived in the rural areas throughout the period. However, while the urban population seemed to decline over the years the other one kept rising until 2020.
Focusing first on the first 30 years, the percentage of rural residents was five times higher than that of the urban's, 85% versus 15%. Then in the next 10 years, the proportion of citizens slightly grow to 20% in 1990. In contrast, the opposite trend was applied to the rural areas population. The percentage of people living in countrysides fell by 5% to 80% in 1990.
Looking at the remaining years, the urban population started to rise significantly in 2010 and ended 37%. Meanwhile the percentage of population in the rural parts of the country decreased continuously until the end of the period, to 63%.
