Nowadays, it's undeniable that more and more young Vietnamese people are enthusiastically celebrating global festivals like Christmas and Halloween. While some worry this trend dilutes cultural identity, in my opinion, the celebration of these festivals is a positive development that enriches, rather than threatens, Vietnamese society. Firstly, embracing these holidays is a natural result of globalization and the digital age. These events provide Vietnamese youth with excellent opportunities for cultural exchange and fun social activities. Participating in themed events or enjoying the festive atmosphere allows for creativity, team-building, and a healthy break from academic pressure, all of which are beneficial for mental well-being. Secondly, learning about these festivals helps young people broaden their worldview and feel more connected to the global community. Understanding the traditions and histories of other cultures is key to becoming globally-minded citizens. Importantly, these celebrations are often adapted here, mixing with local elements, showing cultural fusion rather than replacement. In conclusion, I believe the concern over foreign cultural influence is overstated. As long as the core traditional festivals of Vietnam, such as Tết, are cherished and preserved, celebrating global holidays simply adds diversity and enjoyment to young people's lives. It is an opportunity to have fun, learn, and connect, making it a valuable addition to the modern Vietnamese experience.
