The increasing embrace of global festivals like Christmas and Halloween by young Vietnamese people is a positive sign of a modern, interconnected society. While some worry about the "influence of foreign cultures" eroding Vietnamese traditions, this concern misunderstands cultural exchange. These festivals are often celebrated as fun, secular social events that enrich the social calendar without displacing core Vietnamese holidays like Tết or the Mid-Autumn Festival. Cultural identity is not a fragile, static thing; it is dynamic. By selectively adopting foreign elements, young Vietnamese people are not abandoning their heritage but are enriching their cultural landscape, demonstrating an open, confident, and vibrant society that can successfully blend tradition with global trends.
