In recent years, more young Vietnamese people have embraced foreign festivals like Christmas and Halloween. While some see this as a harmless trends, others worry about the influence of foreign cultures on traditional Vietnamese values. In my opinion, celebrating these festivals is a positive cultural exchange that enriches society rather than threatens local traditional.
First, globalization has made cultural interaction inevitable. Participating in foreign festivals allows young people to experience new customs, fostering open-mindedness and creativity. These celebrations also provide opportunities for socializing, entertainment, and business growth, as many shops and restaurants benefit from increased sales during these occasions.
Second, embracing foreign festivals does not mean abandoning Vietnamese traditions. Young people still celebrate Tet, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and other local events with enthusiasm. Instead of replacing Vietnamese culture, foreign festivals simply add diversity to modern life.
In conclusion, celebrating Christmas and Halloween in Vietnam is not a cultural threat but a way to connect with the world. As long as people continue to cherish their own traditions, cultural diversity should be welcomed.
