Nowadays, more and more young Vietnamese people celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. Some people think there is nothing wrong with this while others are worried about the influence of foreign cultures. What is your opinion? In recent years, Western festivals like Christmas and Halloween have become increasingly popular among young Vietnamese people. While some worry that this trend may harm traditional culture, I believe it brings both opportunities and challenges that should be balanced carefully. On the one hand, celebrating foreign festivals helps young people broaden their cultural understanding and become more open-minded. These events create joyful moments, strengthen friendships, and encourage creativity through costumes and decorations. In addition, they reflect Vietnam’s integration into a globalized world where cultural exchange is inevitable. On the other hand, if young people only focus on foreign celebrations and neglect Vietnamese traditions such as Tết or the Mid-Autumn Festival, our national identity may gradually fade. Therefore, it is important to promote local festivals in creative and modern ways so that they remain attractive to the younger generation. In conclusion, adopting foreign festivals is not necessarily negative, as long as young people also respect and preserve their own cultural values. The best approach is to enjoy cultural diversity while keeping Vietnamese traditions alive.
