In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have started celebrating foreign festivals like Christmas and Halloween. While some are concerned about the influence of foreign cultures, I believe this trend is not harmful and can actually be beneficial.
Firstly, celebrating international festivals allows young people to learn about other cultures. This cultural exchange promotes open-mindedness and helps Vietnam stay connected in an increasingly globalized world. For example, Halloween encourages creativity through costumes and decorations, while Christmas promotes kindness and the spirit of giving.
Secondly, these celebrations are often seen as fun social events rather than religious or cultural replacements. Most young Vietnamese still celebrate traditional festivals such as Tet and the Mid-Autumn Festival with their families. Therefore, participating in foreign holidays does not mean they are abandoning their own culture.
However, it is important to strike a balance. Schools and media should continue to promote traditional values and educate the youth about the importance of Vietnamese heritage.
In conclusion, embracing foreign festivals can enrich the lives of young Vietnamese people, as long as traditional culture remains respected and preserved.
