Problem 2: People leave the lights on and the water running in restrooms
Many schools are facing a serious problem of wasting electricity and water in restrooms. Students and staff often leave lights switched on even when the room is empty, and taps are sometimes left running after use. This behaviour leads to unnecessary waste of natural resources and increases the school’s utility bills. In addition, it contributes to environmental damage because more energy must be produced and more water is consumed than needed.
To solve this problem, several actions can be taken. First, the school should install automatic lights and sensor taps so that electricity and water are only used when needed. Second, clear reminder signs should be placed near switches and sinks to encourage responsible behaviour. Third, teachers should regularly remind students about saving energy and water during school activities. Finally, the school can organise awareness campaigns or competitions to promote good habits.
In conclusion, by combining technology and education, the school can significantly reduce waste and protect the environment for future generations.
