The high volume of private vehicle use for student drop-off and pick-up creates significant traffic congestion, increases noise pollution, and severely compromises air quality directly at the school gate. This situation poses a safety risk to students and contributes to harmful emissions in the community. We need to implement sustainable transportation alternatives.
First Establish "Park and Stride" Zones: Designate safe "drop-and-go" locations 200 meters away from the main gate. Parents use these zones to drop off or park briefly, allowing students to walk the final, short distance. This immediately disperses traffic from the critical area.
Second Promote Carpooling and Cycling: Launch a coordinated Carpooling Initiative using a communication platform to connect nearby families. Simultaneously, install more secure bike racks and organize regular "Bike-to-School Days" to incentivize healthier, non-polluting commutes.
Implementing these measures will lead to cleaner air, reduced noise, and a safer environment for our children. A dedicated task force of parents and staff should be formed to select and launch the "Park and Stride" zones next month.
