Nowadays most people prefer living in the large cities to living in a small community because of the benefits large cities has brought to their lives. So how about living in a small community? What were advantages and disadvantages to be a part of a small community in the past.
I believe there were 3 main benefits. First;y, as living in a region, people living in that area surely knew their neighborhood well, so they easily interacted with everyone when they faced a problem or needed something. Besides, having people stay by side by side each other and helped them out when facing difficulties, which made me would rather choose small community’s life than a larger one. Secondly, the limited population made them unwilling to do crime. This meant the crime rate remained very low because it would be detected soon if you were involved in stealing or any relative activities. Finally, the manage of government was much more effective and forceful than the big cites’s lives. Owning to small population, the government were in charge easily.
I think many of the disadvantages were education. It could be denied that the development of education is supported by the population in one area. That is why it was rarely found a high quality education facilities in a small community. However, in my view, lacking of information was also as serious as lacking of education. Because it’s hard to get information from outside their region, people living in a small community was usually considered as a fogy people. Therefore, we can’t deny the importance of receiving information and knowing what happens around the world.
In my opinion, living in small community is perfect or middle-age people and the old. However, for the young, they might choose to live in a large city. in fact, living in a small community is not really bad because we can form a strong relationship and you’ll never ever alone.

URBAN TRANSPORT PODS

The people living in Milton Keynes, a town about 70 kilometres northwest of London, have been introduced to a new transport experience when they use'pods' to travel on certain routes.

The pods are a kind of driverless cars which travel at 19km/h and are able to transport two people and their luggage. There is a touchscreen in the windshield of the pods where passengers select their terminal. During the trip they can also read the news, check e-mails or play video games on the screen. Powered by electric motors, the pods have ultrasonic sensors and a GPS system that help themselves know where they are go?ng and how to avoid obstacles along the way. People can use a smartphone app to hail a pod in :ne street.

It is certainly true that people in rural areas move to cities in order to achieve high standards of living, but indeed life in cities is more challenging and difficult when compared to villages. There are several reasons for this kind of problem and various measures could be taken by government to improve the situation.

Life in the cities has its drawbacks, for instance, the cost of living in cities is higher than in rural areas, especially housing is much more expensive. As a result, homelessness is becoming more common in cities. There are also more serious problem like traffic congestion and some people do not manage work that can lead to people to commit crime. Moreover, there is a lack of sense of community in big cities, people do not even know their neighbors. Life in cities can be stressful and individuals do not have much time for themselves and their families, as a result the gap between family members is on the increase.

To overcome the increasing troublesome life in cities, the government should start some active measures. Firstly, one key to cities work better is good planning. Planners need to transform cities to make them beneficial for all citizens. Cities need green transport and green spaces; they need to be energy efficient and pedestrian friendly, with housing and jobs to attract people to come to live there. Secondly, the authority should make stricter laws to reduce traffic such as allowing ownership of only car per family and increasing the price of the car and petrol. And people would be encouraged to use public transport rather than driving. Finally, the initiatives could solve the housing problem by building high-rise apartment or by expanding cities.

In conclusion, it seems to me that there are various reasons for the problem in cities life that we are facing now and steps need to taken to tackle this problem.

Cities are often seen as places of opportunity, but there are also some major drawbacks of living in a large metropolis. In my opinion, governments could do much more to improve city life for the average inhabitant.

The main problem for anyone who hopes to migrate to a large city is that the cost of living is likely to be much higher than it is in a small town or village. Inhabitants of cities have to pay higher prices for housing, transport, and even food. Another issue is that urban areas tend to suffer from social problems such as high crime and poverty rates in comparison with rural areas. Furthermore, the air quality in cities is often poor, due to pollution from traffic, and the streets and public transport systems are usually overcrowded. As a result, city life can be unhealthy and stressful.

However, there are various steps that governments could take to tackle these problems. Firstly, they could invest money in the building of affordable or social housing to reduce the cost of living. Secondly, politicians have the power to ban vehicles from city centres and promote the use of cleaner public transport, which would help to reduce both air pollution and traffic congestion. In London, for example, the introduction of a congestion charge for drivers has helped to curb the traffic problem. A third option would be to develop provincial towns and rural areas, by moving industry and jobs to those regions, in order to reduce the pressure on major cities.

In conclusion, governments could certainly implement a range of measures to enhance the quality of life for all city residents.

A. Living sculptures

Gregory Kloehn is a sculptor with a difference. Not only are his sculptures created from bits of rubbish, but each of his unique creations offers a homeless person somewhere to live. Gregory works in California, where there are a lot of people living on the streets. Each of his sculptures is no bigger than the average sofa, but the tiny, one-roomed shelters are as wonderful as mansions for a person who is sleeping rough.

Gregory searches on rubbish dumps to find pieces to use. A washing machine door is as good as a normal window. A fridge door can make a fine front door, and has useful shelves on the inside. And each home is on wheels so that it can be pushed around easily.

B. The Crazy house

With a view to bringing humans closer to nature, architect Dang Viet Nga created this surreal artistic guesthouse in Da Lat, Viet Nam. The Crazy House has gained recognition for its creative and unique architecture. There are almost no straight lines and no right angles at all. The structure of the house does not follow any rules, but everything looks harmonious. This weird structure is a maze of winding flights of stairs, dangerous-looking bridges, and sculptural rooms, each of which is named after an animal. In one room, guests are watched over by the glowing red eyes of a kangaroo. In another room, the window looks like the cobweb of a giant spider and the fireplace is in the form of an eagle's egg.

C. Well-contained housing

If you heard that they were putting homeless people into shipping containers, you might be shocked. But that's exactly what is happening in Brighton, England. The Brighton Housing Trust has been inspired by a similar housing estate in the Netherlands. It is developing 36 studio flats in the town centre, using old shipping containers. The flats will have a window at each end and a toilet and shower room in the middle. On one side there'll be a kitchen and small dining table, and on the other side a living room with a sofa bed. At 24 square metres, they are smaller than a shared room in a homeless hostel. But they are much more desirable and certainly spacious enough for one person. They are also stackable. The containers will sit on top of one another with stairs connecting them.

Tạm dịch:

A. Tác phẩm điêu khắc sống
