In my opinion, the concern that teenagers spend too much time on social media is valid. While social media can be a useful tool for communication and staying connected with friends, it can also be addictive and take up too much time that could be spent on other activities.

One solution to this problem is for parents to set limits on their children's screen time and encourage them to engage in other activities such as sports, hobbies, and spending time with family and friends. Additionally, schools could educate students about responsible social media use and the negative effects of spending too much time on it.

Another solution is for social media companies to implement features that encourage users to take breaks and limit their time on the platform. For example, Instagram recently introduced a feature that shows users how much time they spend on the app each day and allows them to set a time limit.

Overall, while social media can be a valuable tool for communication and connection, it is important for teenagers to balance their time spent on it with other activities and for parents and schools to play an active role in encouraging responsible use.

Assisting persons with disabilities has long been one of the top priorities for the U.S. Government in Vietnam. Members of the gay community in the U.S. are calling for the lifting of a federal ban on blood donations by gay.

After this week's shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, thousands of homosexuals lined up to donate blood to survivors. However, they were turned away because of U.S. government rules that prohibit gay men from giving blood.

 
 

In the wake of the shootings, the policy is causing anger and outrage among gays.

 
 

The policy was put in place in the 1980s during the AIDS epidemic, and it barred gay and bisexual men from donating blood out of fear that they were at high risk of being HIV-positive and could contaminate the blood supply.

 
 

Public health advocates, who argued for lifting the blood donation ban last year, say the policy does not keep pace with some recent scientific developments to safeguard the blood supply against HIV.

 
 

Sean Cahill, director of health policy research at the Fenway Institute in Boston, said the revised policy is still unfair.

 
 

According to Cahill, the so-called nucleic acid test is now available to detect the presence of HIV in a pint of blood in less than two weeks, compared with the months it used to take. The test is performed on all blood samples to make sure they don't contain the virus.

At Boston Medical Center, patients recovering from drug dependencies are getting healthier one meal at a time. For years, the hospital has offered cooking classes for patients with medical conditions such as heart disease. The newest class is “Cooking for Recovery.” It is connected to the spreading belief that many forms of treatment are needed to recover from drug and alcohol dependency, also called addiction.

Michael Botticelli is the head of the medical center’s Grayken Center for Addiction and former director of the government’s Office of National Drug Control Policy. He says, “recovery is not just about stopping the use of alcohol and drugs, it’s about how do we return people to a sense of wellness and a sense of well-being.” On a recent Thursday, cook Tracy Burg taught patients how to make a meal of chicken and vegetables.

“Mood enhancers” — vegetables and whole grains — sat on the side on one side of the table. “Mood depressors” — foods with a lot of sugar — sat on the other side. Good healthy eating is often forgotten during recovery, Burg said. And many addicts desire sugary foods that affect the same areas of the brain as drugs, she said. This can lead to rising and falling blood sugar levels, depression and possible return to drug use. Burg said many addicts have serious stomach problems because much of the organ’s healthy bacteria have been destroyed. She teaches that eating fiber can improve bacteria health.
