câu cảm thán dùng để bộc lộ cảm xúc. câu cảm thán diễn tả trạng thái của sự vật ở mức độ cao và cuối câu có dấu chấm than. how+adj+s+tobe , what +a/an+adj+s . cấu trúc với what có khi không cần dùng a/an bởi vì khi đó trong câu là danh từ số nhiều.

câu cảm thán (exclamation). Loại câu này dùng để biểu lộ những tình cảm mạnh hơn mức bình thường: ngạc nhiên, vui mừng, tức giận, lo lắng…
Chúng ta có hai cách để diễn tả:
1. What + a/ an + Adj + N!
Tuỳ trường hợp, chúng ta có thể thay đổi công thức này, thí dụ với danh từ không đếm được hoặc số nhiều thì không có a/ an, hoặc có những danh từ bản thân đã đủ nghĩa, có thể không cần thêm tính từ.
e.g
What hot coffee! (Cà phê nóng quá!)
What big eggs! (Những quả trứng to quá!)
What a pity! (Thật đáng tiếc!)
What a beautiful house! (Thật là một căn nhà đẹp!)
2. How + Adj + S + Be! (thường động từ là To Be, vì To Be đi với tính từ, và chủ từ là đại từ cho câu ngắn gọn, chúng ta khó diễn tả những xúc động mạnh bằng một câu dài lê thê phải không?)
e.g
How nice it is! (Trời đẹp quá!)
How pretty she is! (Cô ấy xinh quá!)
How new these shoes are! (Những chiếc giày này mới quá!)
BT:1. He is very strong. ==> How strong he is!
2:She is tall. ==> How tall she is

WHAT + a/ an + adj + danh từ đếm được
=> What a lazy student! (Cậu học trò lười quá!)
=> What an interesting novel! (Quyển tiểu thuyết hay quá!)
Ghi chú: đối với cấu trúc này, khi danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều, ta không dùng a/an. Và lúc đó cấu trúc câu sẽ là:
WHAT + adj + danh từ đếm được số nhiều
=> What tight shoes are! (Giầy chật quá!)
=> What beautiful flowers are! (Bông hoa đẹp quá!)
Đối với danh từ không đếm được, ta theo cấu trúc:
WHAT + adj + danh từ không đếm được
=> What beautiful weather! (Thời tiết đẹp quá! )
Đối với cấu trúc vừa kể, người ta có thể thêm vào phía sau một chủ từ và một động từ. Và lúc đó, cấu trúc với “What “ sẽ là:
What + a/ an + adj + noun + S + V
=> What lazy students! (Chúng nó là những học sinh lười biếng biết bao nhiêu)
What a good picture they saw! (Tôi đã xem một bức tranh thật tuyệt)
- Câu cảm thán với “HOW” có cấu trúc như sau:
HOW + adjective/ adverb + S + V
=> How cold (adj) it is!
=> How interesting (adj) this film is!
=> How well (adv) she sings!
