Câu 1. Quy tắc phát âm đuôi s/es gồm 3 cách:
Phát âm là /s/ khi từ tận cùng bằng các âm vô thanh như p, k, t, f
Ví dụ: books, cats
Phát âm là /z/ khi từ tận cùng bằng các âm hữu thanh và nguyên âm
Ví dụ: bags, pens, cars
Phát âm là /ɪz/ khi từ tận cùng bằng các âm s, x, z, sh, ch, ge, ce
Ví dụ: watches, buses, boxes
Mẹo nhớ:
sờ nhẹ là /s/,
rung cổ là /z/,
thêm một âm “iz” là /ɪz/.
Câu 1. Với từ có đuôi -al, trọng âm thường rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2 từ cuối lên.
Ví dụ:
national, musical, electrical
Với từ có đuôi -ous, trọng âm thường rơi vào âm tiết đứng trước đuôi -ous.
Ví dụ:
dangerous, famous, nervous
Mẹo nhớ:
Đuôi -al thường lùi về trước 1 âm,
Đuôi -ous nhấn ngay trước nó.
