Nowadays, people have many choices of commuting to work including public transport. However, it’s not always the best solution at all. Let’s consider its pros and cons.

It’s the fact that public transport has many benefits. Firstly, using bus, train,… save you an amount of money. Imagine you drive a private car or motorbike, you must pay for not only the cost of petrol but also the regular maintenance fee. Furthermore, the price of buying one car or motorbike is expensive itself. Bus, tram,… is for everyone, even the lowest-income people. Another advantage I want to mention is that using public vehicle is a method to reduce air pollution and traffic jams. Especially in the city, where the number of vehicles increasing makes the road crowded, the public transport system is developed to deal with traffic jam and reduce the pollutant released by petrol-run vehicles.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages with public transportation. The problem that confuse people most is that it wastes time. Usually, people need to wait for some minutes to catch a bus a train, so they need to be punctually in order not to miss is. In some crowded cities, buses meet difficulties moving among so many vehicle, so people have to wait for quite a long time before the buses come, which annoy them and cause them to be late for schools or work. Besides, as I mentioned above, the fares are cheap so many people want to use it, sometimes it is crowded that it is impossible to breath and convenient for the pickpocket criminals to commit crime.

In conclusion, there are both positive and negative aspects of the using public transportation. Personally, I still believe that public transport is advantageous when the government build a modern public transport system to avoid the drawbacks.

The chart above decsribes how the birth rates of 2 countries namely China, USA changed in 80 years which started from 1920

Answer:
The line graph compares the birth rates in China and the US and how these rates changed from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, there was a general decline in fertility of both nations throughout the time surveyed. However, the US’s birth rates almost was higher than that of China over the whole period.
American saw a significant fluctuation in the birth rates between 1920 to 1935, but it always remained over 10%. However, in the following decade, the fertility of the US decreased sharply to under 5 %. From 1945 to 1950, there was a rapidly increased in American’s birth rates, at 15%, reaching the highest point of it’s own during the whole period. From that on, the fertility of the US fell gradually to 7% in 2000.
During the 80-year period, the birth rates in China changed more significantly than in the US. It fell down to 5% in the year 1940, then reaching a peak of whole line graph in 1950, at 20%. Over the remainder of the period, China saw a sharply drop in the birth rates to only about 2% until 2000.

Poverty is no shame

My parents died in a traffic accident when I was ten years old, so I grew up with my grandmother who was too old and weak to work. I had to leave school and did odd jobs to earn a living: selling lottery kets, washing dishes and doing babysitting. When I was 15, my grandma encouraged me to attend evening classes, so I could improve my literacy and job prospects.

After lots of hardship and effort, I completed secondary education and passed a challenging exam to enter Medical University, which is the dream of many students. However, I could not pay the tuition fees and had to reject the offer. The door to a new life was closed before me. I was completely disappointed and saw only gloomy days ahead. Then something incredible happened: I was awarded a scholarship from The Thanh Nien for college students from poor families. This was really a turning point in my life because I could start my university studies and hope for a better future.

Six years of hard work at the university and of trying to live on a very tight budget came to an end at last. Now I am working as a doctor at a hospital, but I will never forget those difficult days. I am planning to set up and run a charitable organisation to help poor students, as a way to acknowledge other people for supporting me.

I've told my own story hoping to encourage other people me to overcome hard times. Don't let poverty defeat you and destroy your hopes for a better future. This is my motto.

Mong cô duyệt bái cho em ạ !

I am Kim Lee. I am now 17 years old. When I was at the age of 15 I started getting acne.

My face looked terrible and I always felt depressed and insecure about appearance. Then I came to see one of my best friends, who always gave me good advice and asked her for advice. She told me that I should wash my face several times a day and try different antiacne products, squeeze pimples often. But this way doesn't help a lot. The result of that was 60% of my face was covered with acne.

I found a website advertising an effective way to remove acne, and they advised me to see Dr Kangnam. Dr Kangnam gave me a detailed plan to remove acne on my face. First, he advised me to wash my face only twice a day because washing face too often may cause skin irritation. Second, I have to take prescription medicine. Third, I had to follow a healthy diet. Dr Kangnam also advised me not to stay up late. After six months acne clears up. And now I feel very happy and confident.

Dear Anne(Hà Lam).

I received your email last week, in which you asked me about my city New York in 2050. There are different ideas about this question. I thought it in a few days, and now I can give you two predictions.

Let's take a look at an optimis viewpoint. In 2050 New York will become a more liveable city than ever before for lots of reasons. The city authorities have built a very careful plan to promote self-driving electric taxis to deal with crowded public transport. In addition, the city dwellers are encouraged to use city's building roofs for gardens fertilised with compose in order to recycle rubbish and reduce pollution. The government will also build offshore windfarms to replace ageing electricity network.

On the other hand, pessimis people think that the city life won't be a safe place to live in because the government cannot control the use of guns, and therefore the crime rate will be higher. People's life will also continue to be threatened because of natural disasters such as floods, storms, earthquakes. The effects of global warming have great impacts on the city dwellers.

That's all about my answer to your question. I hope you will be satisfied with it, Nam.

Best wishes,

Wonie(Quyên)

Dear Bich

Your last email asked me about my city Ha Noi in 2050. Well, but I'm busy and have no time to reply you soon. Today I am writing to you about that question. There are different ideas about this question. I thought about it in a few days, and now I can give you some predictions.

Let's take a look at optimis aspects. In 2050 Ha Noi will become a more modern city for lots of reasons. High technology has been applied in our lives. The robots will replace us for many jobs such as manufacturing, farming, etc. Smart cars which will be commonly used in the road. They will help human beings to decrease the accidents as well as traffic jams.

On the contrary, pessimis people think that the city life will be a dangerous place to live in because the environment is completely polluted. The effects of global warming have great impacts on the city dwellers, higher temperature in the summer and colder climate in the winter. There are a lot of means of transport so that emission from them cause air pollution. Our health will be threatened because of low air quality index.

That's all about my thoughts about your question. I hope you will be satisfied with it, Bich.

Best wishes,

Chau

Our travel brochure is about an eco tour to Central Highlands. The tour leaves the ABC office at 5 a.m. every Saturday and gets back at 8 p.m. the next day. The two-day tour doesn’t cost too much: only VND 900,000 per person. During this trip, you can go biking in the forest and watch wildlife. You can also visit Don village, enjoy cooking and staying overnight with local ethnic families. If we have enough time, we may visit coffee plantations to enjoy fresh coffee. But you need to behave responsibly. You should speak softly while watching the animals. And remember to respect local people's life and not to litter.

Forests play an important part of life on earth. They absorb Co2 and harmful gases produced during burning fossil fuels, which reduce air pollution, heat, flood and other disasters. They are also home of a wide variety of fauna and floral.

Nontheless, nowadays, jungles’ area is decreasing because of exploitation of woods and land. So what we can do to stop them from disappearing gradually? First, build plans carefully of land use for public facilities and cultivation. Furthermore, the land that trees were cut down needs to be replaced by new plants and be taken care properly. Last but not least, government must raise awareness on the importance of trees in education, and build tree-growing campaigns across the country.

To sum up, forests must be protected to maintain the life on earth and steps must be taken to prevent further consequences.
