Last weekend, my parents and I had a meal at a small restaurant in the centre of town. For a starter, I ordered a plate of salad. The salad is prepared using different vegetables and fruits and then those are cut into pieces and mixed together with mustard. My family ordered fried chicken and shrimp for the main dish. It’s also my favourite dish in this restaurant. The food is very delicious. I have quite a sweet tooth so I always look forward to dessert. I ordered Tiramisu. My parent ordered 2 cups of coffee.

School is a place of learning and getting trained for professional and social life. My school is located in the center of my city. On the side of the school, there is a big garden. We also have other activities in the school such as football, basketball and many more. Planting trees is my favourite outdoor activity. It makes me a more responsible and creative thinker. I think travelling by a bamboo-copter will become popular in the future. A bamboo-copter will have 3 wings and runs on very little electricity. It will even run on solar energy. It can carry only one person. You put it on your head like a hat and turn on the switch to fly. It is self-balancing. It is very fun, convenient, and safe but it is quite difficult to use in bad weather.

We use a lot of energy at home and it costs us a lot. To save energy, we should use low energy light bulbs in our house. It will help us to reduce our electricity bill. Secondly, before going to bed, we should turn off electrical appliances when not using them. Finally, we should turn off the lights in room when we go out, avoid wasting water, shut the kitchen stove when stop cooking.

Among all means of transport, the bus is my main choice to travel around my city.

A bus is a large four-wheeled vehicle meant to carry many passengers along with the driver. It is larger than a car. Buses are an important part of public transport in places all over the world. My English teacher has told me an interesting story about the name “bus”. They used to be called omnibuses, which means “for everyone” in Latin, but people now simply call them “buses”.  Luckily, my house is located near one of the five main biggest Hanoi bus stations, so I can have a variety of ways to go across the city. Mostly, bus route 37 is the daily bus route for me. It is a typical old red and yellow Hanoi bus, whose colors represent the Vietnamese flag. There are new buses that are painted with blue to create a more gentle, friendly image for people. Short-distance buses have a light green color. The newest bus route to Noi Bai airport has also been put into use with an orange color that is very recognizable. All new bus models change the brand identity with the image of Khue Van Cac and pigeon, which are the iconic symbols of Hanoi – city of peace. There are new buses every 15 minutes on a route, so it is easy for citizens to catch a bus. They also build more and more bus stops in further regions, too. Facilities in buses are upgraded with speakers, free wifi,  and comfortable seats.

There are many reasons to choose a bus as daily transportation. First, traveling by bus is cheaper than any other means of transport. The cost of a bus ket is 7,000 dong and a monthly bus ket is 100,000 dong, while the cost for motorbike is at least 50,000 dong a week for fuel. I can travel to many locations within one ket while using motorbikes to further destinations means spending even more on petrol. Second, going by bus is very convenient and comfortable. on  rainy or freezing days, I can sit on the bus without worrying about dirt, mud splash or a cutting wind. In hot weather, the bus is air-conditioned to make us feel better. While going on a bus, I can take time to sleep, listen to music or review my lessons. Third, the bus is the best means to help reduce traffic jams and pollution. If many people travel by bus, private transportation is reduced, which leads to the reduction of traffic problems on the road. Also, fossil fuels are used less, and there is less exhaust. The earth can be saved as a result.

In conclusion, the bus is still my favorite transportation as it brings many benefits to not only myself but also the environment.

My favourite film is Annabelle, a horror film directed by John R. Leonetti. It tells a story about a husband and a wife who have been happily married and expecting a child. Mia (the wife) has to stay at home until the baby is born. Then, one night, when her husband came home from work, he brought home a present for his wife, which is a doll named Annabelle. Little do they know, the doll has been haunted and is now a sinister presence lurking around their home. In general, the film is a great success due to its brilliant acting and thrilling tone. Many people say that the film is so scary and intriguing and a must-see for anyone who loves horror films.

Dear Mark,

How are you? I'm going to tell you about Tet holiday in Vietnam, my favourite festival. We often celebrate it once every year on some days from the end of the twelfth lunar month to celebrate an upcoming year. "Banh chung" is the traditional food associated with Tet holiday. I wholeheartedly like the festival due to the fact that at Tet, my family has a chance to reunite and I am given lucky money in red envelopes. 

I hope one day you can join the festival with us.

Language survey: Report

These are the results of my survey on using foreignlanguages. The results are from interviews with twenty

one peoplein our class of forty five, so less than half of the class.

Learning and speaking

Everybody in the group is learning English as a second language anda few people are learning a third

language. Most of them speak English in class, butnobody in the group speaks English outside class.

Internet and social media

More than half of the people in the group visit websites which arein other languages. However, less than

quarter of the surveygroup post comments or messages online in anotherlanguage.

Other media

Two thirds of the people watch TV programmes or films in otherlanguages, but onlya few people listen to

English songs.

I have lived in Hanoi for many years, so I can see that the traffic here is usually so crowded, especially during rush hours. Some traffic problems have risen recently and drawn a lot of the public's attention. Firstly, there are too many vehicles on the road. There are many cars, buses, taxis and trucks on the high roads. Besides, the narrow and bumpy road can cause many accidents. On top of that, some people do not obey traffic rules. All of those careless actions can cause accidents. To avoid them, I think we should use public transportation instead of private cars to reduce the number of vehicles. What's more, it is a good idea to educate all people to follow the traffic rules and youngsters to know how to drive carefully and safely.

Tôi sống ở Hà Nội nhiều năm nên có thể thấy giao thông ở đây thường rất đông đúc, đặc biệt là vào những giờ cao điểm. Một số vấn đề giao thông đã nổi lên gần đây và thu hút rất nhiều sự chú ý của công chúng. Thứ nhất, có quá nhiều phương tiện lưu thông trên đường. Có rất nhiều ô tô, xe buýt, taxi và xe tải trên các con đường trên cao. Bên cạnh đó, đường hẹp và gập ghềnh có thể xảy ra nhiều vụ tai nạn. Hơn hết, một số người không chấp hành luật lệ giao thông. Tất cả những hành động bất cẩn đó đều có thể gây ra tai nạn. Để tránh tai nạn, tôi nghĩ chúng ta nên sử dụng phương tiện công cộng thay vì ô tô cá nhân để giảm số lượng phương tiện. Hơn nữa, việc giáo dục mọi người dân chấp hành luật lệ giao thông và thanh thiếu niên biết cách lái xe cẩn thận và an toàn là điều nên làm.
