Last summer, I joined a volunteer group to clean up a local beach in my community. We spent the whole weekend collecting plastic waste, old fishing nets, and glass bottles scattered along the shore. Besides cleaning, we also put up colorful wooden signs to encourage tourists to protect the environment and place their trash in the bins. I live in a big city, and my house is not very big since there are only rich people who can afford to live in a spacious house. Every room in my house is just enough for our activities, so we do not have much space for the living room. However, we try our best to decorate it because it is where the whole family gathers after a long day staying outside. We lay down a thick rug on the floor, it both helps to decorate and keep the floor safe from the scratches. To save some space, we put the TV and the loud speakers on the wall. The Play Station, DVD player and other electronic devices are put in a small cabinet in the corner of the room, and we only take them out whenever we want to play something. In the middle of the room is a glass table, we put on the surface a bottle of fresh water and some cups so everyone can have a quick drink before leaving or after coming back to the house. Behind the table is a big white couch, and it can be considered as the biggest thing in the living room. My mother loves the pastel tone, so the walls are painted in cream color; and they all go very well with the couch. We do not have any window there, so we install an air conditioner to keep the atmosphere cool. We hang some pictures of landscape as well as painting on the walls to make the room livelier. There are also a pot of a small plant in the corner of the room, so we can get some fresh air from it. Every night, we would gather to watch TV or sing karaoke, and it is my favorite time of the day. Although the living room is no too big, our family will always have good times there together.

One country that I’ve never been to is New Zealand. It’s located in the Southern Hemisphere, on the continent of Oceania, and its nearest neighbor is Australia. It is quite far away from where I live, so I haven’t yet had the chance to visit. I would like to go there in future, though. This year I will be too busy working but maybe I will get the chance to visit next year, or the year after that.

There are many reasons that I would like to visit New Zealand. For one thing, it looks like a stunningly beautiful country. Its natural scenery seems captivating to me, and I’d love to travel around seeing the mountains and rugged coastline. In these places, there are many amazing animals to see, and I’m a big fan of wildlife watching. In addition, New Zealand has a long and fascinating history, which I’d like to explore.

New Zealand seems like a good country to visit for those reasons, as well as because it is a modern nation with a good tourist infrastructure. People there speak English, which is also a bonus.
